Long answer
I spend about a month talking to people, going into their homes, documenting how they actually use things. Sometimes you do a lot of research and nothing comes out. That is okay. That is not a problem. Sometimes you do a lot of research and even if one thing comes out right, even if it is a very small thing, it makes a lot of sense. You are always looking for that one small thing.
My team and I go in, video record people using their appliances, then analyze that data and pick out a few points. Your regular post-it methods. And within that, sometimes these smaller nuances also help the marketing team, because that is how you are positioning it. The aim is that the data you bring back is something your stakeholders can actually process and act on.
