What is love?

Short answer

Love is energy, released.

Long answer

Ahimsa, in its highest form, is the presence of love in action. Not the absence of violence, not merely not killing or not injuring. Love here is something far more active, far more precise.

It is the positive energy that is released when we overcome the desire to harm someone. It is the process of working to overcome destructive emotions like fear, anger, hatred. And this distinction matters: the adrenaline rush that accompanies hate can be confused for energy. But hate is tiring. Violence is stressful. Love is re-energizing.

There is a simple test for this. You may want a particular outcome with pride, or you may want it with love. The words carry the same intent, but one closes the room and one opens it. That opening, that release, is where love actually lives.
