What is seeing?

Short answer

The eye is blind.

Long answer

Context itself has become very ephemeral. It's something that might change during a certain time of the day, time of the year, in the future, in the next two years, in the next three years, so on and so forth.

Architecture does not stay static. Many times what happens is we design for a certain client or a certain understanding of what we are building, where we are building, but things change. A temple becomes a tomb, then becomes a British regent's farmhouse. The context of that time is as important as the context of that particular place. So as time evolves, so does context.

Even preservation doesn't necessarily mean you are going to contextualize that work of art. The number of tourists, the crowds in front of a painting. Really, the context of that painting is no longer something that lends itself to the experience of the painting anymore.
